They&#x2019;ve worked with OURCA either through the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/research-and-institutions\/office-undergraduate-research-creative-activity\/funding-opportunities\/surf-program.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SURF<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) or the Student-Faculty Independent Research and\/or Creative Activity Grant. In the 2016-2017 group, there are theater majors, film majors, students from the pharmacy school, and scholars focusing on various sciences.<\/span><br \/>\n&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_94\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94\" style=\"width: 255px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-94\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/undergraduate-excellence\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/78\/2016\/10\/IMG_0220.jpg\" alt=\"img_0220\" width=\"255\" height=\"191\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-94\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>\n OURCA Ambassador, Jessica Bocinski and SURF fellow Seth Yund answer questions from perspective students at Discover Chapman Day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These students are motivated and passionate about undergraduate research, both in their own projects and in spreading&#xD;<br \/>\ninformation about the opportunities to their peers.<\/span><br \/>\n&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">OURCA Ambassadors are available to share their experiences with other undergraduates and with prospective students and their parents. You&#x2019;ll see them at OURCA events, at table events and panel discussions, and in classes to share the numerous research and funding possibilities to the undergraduate community.<\/span><br \/>\n&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#xD;<br \/>\nMeet the current OURCA Student Ambassadors:<\/span><br \/>\n&#xD;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shannon Corenthin is a dual French and Canadian citizen studying Theater Performance and Integrated Educational Studies. This fall, she&#x2019;s taking her research focus of Black women in American theatre to the stage by directing Lynn Nottage&#x2019;s <\/span><i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">POOF!<\/span><\/i><\/i>&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_93\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-93\" style=\"width: 269px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-93\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/undergraduate-excellence\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/78\/2016\/10\/IMG_0055.jpg\" alt=\"img_0055\" width=\"269\" height=\"202\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-93\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">OURCA Ambassadors Benji Whitmore, Natalie Tom, and Jessica Bocinski sharing OURCA opportunities with students at the Student Involvement Fair<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<p>&#xD;<\/p>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jessica Bocinski is a double major in Art History and Anthropology; she focuses on the work of the Pre-Raphaelite artist William Holman Hunt.<\/span><\/li>\n<p>&#xD;<\/p>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Benji Whitmore is a junior in the School of Pharmacy working in the field of ion channel pharmacology using X-ray techniques.<\/span><\/li>\n<p>&#xD;<\/p>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Natalie Tom is a Chemistry Major with a Nutrition Minor and working towards a Master&#x2019;s in Food Science. She is studying methods to extend the shelf life of beef.<\/span><\/li>\n<p>&#xD;<\/p>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lena Romano is a double major in Theater and Sociology; she&#x2019;s interested in the influence of social class on woman in theater. This fall, she&#x2019;s directing the play <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trifles <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">by Susan Glaspell as part of a feminist theatre festival.<\/span><\/li>\n<p>&#xD;<\/p>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nicole Hornaday graduated in May 2016 with a degree in Biological Sciences; she has developed a presentation for OURCA&#x2019;s SURF program that explores best practices in mentor&#x2013;mentee communication.<\/span><\/li>\n<p>&#xD;\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#xD;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_96\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96\" style=\"width: 280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-96\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/undergraduate-excellence\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/78\/2016\/10\/IMG_0015.jpg\" alt=\"img_0015\" width=\"280\" height=\"210\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-96\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/>\n OURCA Ambassadors Lena Romano and Shannon Corenthin sharing information with freshman parents during orientation at the Academic Resources Fair.<\/figcaption><\/figure>&#xD;<br \/>\n&#xD;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Are you interested in having an OURCA Student Ambassador come to your class or club meeting?
