At the heart of their activism was a powerful declaration \u2013 one they were moved to place squarely on the jacket of their book.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerica Is a Racist Society!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now one of the authors of that book is working with a Chapman University professor and some reflective students to update the racial-justice narrative for a new generation. The result is an Honors course called \u201cRace Matters: Institutional Racism in the US,\u201d taught by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/index.aspx\">Wilkinson College<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/carmichael-peters\">Professor Carmichael Peters<\/a> and featuring the mentorship and teaching of university Trustee Andrew Horowitz.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.chapman.edu\/2021\/03\/05\/chapman-honors-class-takes-on-institutional-racism-by-bridging-five-decades-of-activism\/\">Read more &#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was the late \u201960s, and 10 college students wanted to challenge the racist norms they saw all around them.
