This, of course, is exactly why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.co.uk\/article\/hong-kong-protests-wikipedia\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.co.uk\/article\/hong-kong-protests-wikipedia\">governments<\/a> that want to promote a particular perspective have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-middle-east-64195644\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-middle-east-64195644\">incentive<\/a> to manipulate it.<\/p>\n<p>New research by Chapman University and the University of Ottawa shows how a small group of individuals, with no ties to any government, can slowly erode reason and accuracy to promote ideological zeal and prejudice on Wikipedia.<\/p>\n<p>The paper, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/25785648.2023.2168939\">\u201cWikipedia\u2019s Intentional Distortion of the History of the Holocaust\u201d<\/a> published today in The Journal of Holocaust Research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the last ten years, a group of committed Wikipedia editors have been promoting a skewed version of history on Wikipedia whitewashing the role of Polish society in the Holocaust and bolstering stereotypes about Jews,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/shira-klein\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/shira-klein\">Shira Klein<\/a>, associate professor of history at Chapman University in Orange, California and co-author of the essay, \u201cWikipedia\u2019s Intentional Distortion of the History of the Holocaust\u201d in The Journal of Holocaust Research.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.chapman.edu\/2023\/02\/09\/research-reveals-wikipedias-intentional-distortion-of-the-history-of-the-holocaust\/\">Read more &#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wikipedia is one of the few trusted sources of reliable information left on the Internet.
