Positive Deviance and Healthy Communities, Friday, April 8, 2011 at 1 p.m. in Beckman Hall 104. <\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">Dr. Arvind Singhal is the Samuel Shirley and Edna Holt Marston Endowed Professor of Communication and Director of the Social Justice Initiative in the University of Texas El Paso\u2019s Department of Communication. He is also appointed as the William J. Clinton Distinguished Fellow at the Clinton School of Public Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT\"><\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Arial-ItalicMT\"><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">Singhal teaches and conducts research in the diffusion of innovations, organizing for social change, and the entertainment-education strategy. His research and outreach spans sectors such as health, education, peace, human rights, poverty alleviation, sustainable development, civic participation, democracy and governance, and corporate citizenship. <\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Singhal is co-author or editor of 11 books which include, but are not limited to, <i><span style=\"font-family: Arial-ItalicMT\">Inviting Everyone: Healing Healthcare through Positive Deviance <\/span><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT\">(2010); <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family: Arial-ItalicMT\">Protecting Children from Exploitation and Trafficking: Using the Positive Deviance Approach <\/span><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT\">(2009); <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family: Arial-ItalicMT\">Popular with a Purpose <\/span><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT\">(2008).<\/span>&nbsp;<\/i><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT\">Singhal has won Top Paper Awards from the International Communication Association and National Communication Association a dozen times, and Ohio University\u2019s Baker Research Award twice. The Social Science Research Council and the International Communication Association recognized Singhal as the winner of the Communication Research as Collaborative Practice Award in 2009 and the winner of the Communication Researcher as an Agent of Change Award in 2008. <\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: ArialMT\">Wilkinson College and the Department of Communications is excited to welcome Dr. Singhal to Chapman University.
