The session was entitled \u201cWhy Literature Matters,\u201d and its three papers were \u201cLiterature as Alternative Reality,\u201d given by Gregory Jusdanis, Professor and Director of the Modern Greek Program at The Ohio State University,<span>&nbsp; <\/span>\u201cLiterature as Formative Experience,\u201d given by Cristy, and \u201cLiterature as Other to Our Age,\u201d given by Mark W. Roche, Rev. Edmund P. Joyce Professor of German Language and Literature at University of Notre Dame. Cristy\u2019s paper and the focus of the session were drawn from her book, <i>Why Literature?
