Armacost<\/a>, Ph.D., former U.S. Ambassador and former president of the nation\u2019s oldest think tank, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/\">Brookings Institute<\/a>, is set to deliver his expert opinion on U.S. policy toward Asia in a public lecture \u2013 \u201cNew Challenges in an Era of Change\u201d \u2013 on <strong>Wednesday, March 6, 5 p.m. in the university\u2019s Sandhu Conference Center.<\/strong> \u00a0The event, sponsored by Kay Family Foundation, begins with a reception at 4 p.m. and is part of the Richard Watson Distinguished Lecture Series presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/index.aspx\">Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/interdisciplinary-minors\/asian-studies.aspx\">minor in Asian studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very lucky to have Ambassador Armacost speak at Chapman during this pivotal moment in East Asian history. In a very timely talk, Ambassador Armacost will discuss the U.S. stakes in East Asia in terms of its relationship with Japan as well as Japan\u2019s role within the region,\u201d says Alex Bay, Ph.D., director of the minor in Asian studies.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Armacost, a noted author and expert in contemporary issues in U.S. relations with Northeast Asia, will shed light on the Obama Administration\u2019s foreign policy strategy in respect to Asia\u2019s shifting geopolitical climate.<\/p>\n<p>The ambassador, a recipient of the President\u2019s Distinguished Service Award and the Secretary of State\u2019s Distinguished Service Award, is currently the\u00a0Shorenstein Distinguished Fellow at the Walter H.
