\npresents the 3rd Undergraduate Art History Symposium,  on Friday, April 26, 2013 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. in Kennedy Hall, 147.

\nThe Symposium will include an introduction and welcome by
\nDr. Wendy Salmond<\/a>
\n, Chapman art professor and
\nDean of Wilkinson College, Patrick Fuery.<\/a>
\n
\n
\nAt 12:30 p.m. keynote speaker, Dr. Meredith Cohen from UCLA, will discuss “Saint Louis and the Cult of Kingship at the Sainte-Chapelle of Paris”
\n <\/p>\n

About Dr. Cohen:<\/strong>
\n Meredith Cohen obtained her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2004 and joins UCLA after having spent a decade conducting research and teaching at universities in England and France. She specializes in the art, architecture, and urban development of high medieval Europe (c. 1000 – c. 1450). Her research and teaching focus on issues concerning the social and ideological functions of art and architecture, production and reception, as well as historiography. In 2010, she curated (with Xavier Dectot) an exhibition on medieval Paris at the Musée national du Moyen-Âge—Thermes de Cluny, titled
\nParis, ville rayonnante <\/em>
\n(“Paris, Rayonnant City”) (ed. RMN, 2010). She has published articles on the Sainte-Chapelle in
\nSpeculum<\/em>
\n and
\nRes<\/em>
\n. Other articles and book reviews have dealt with medieval Paris, the “Court Style,” and French royal history. Meredith Cohen is completing a monograph on the Sainte-Chapelle and royal architecture in thirteenth-century Paris.
