The Global Atlantic World Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/index.aspx\">Wilkinson College<\/a> students Phillip Lorenzo and Megan McKeown recently traveled to Ohio to present their research at the \u201cAfrica &amp; The Global Atlantic World Conference\u201d hosted this year by Kent State University.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speaker and senior scholar Horace Campbell warmly welcomed the students as the only two undergraduates invited to present.<\/p>\n<p>With support from the Office of Undergraduate Research, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/history\/index.aspx\">History Department<\/a>, The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/political-science\/index.aspx\">Political Science Department<\/a>, and the Student Government Association, Megan McKeown, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/wilkinson\/peace-studies\/index.aspx\">Peace Studies major<\/a> and Women Studies minor, presented her oral history research on \u201cWomen and Power in the African Past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Phillip Lorenzo, a History and Economics Major, presented his research on \u201cThe Transatlantic Slave Trade and the Portuguese <em>Prazeros<\/em>: An Economic Creation of Cultural Identity.\u201d Look for the revised conference papers soon to be published.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations Megan and Phillip!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wilkinson College students Phillip Lorenzo and Megan McKeown recently traveled to Ohio to present their research at the \u201cAfrica &amp;
