\n with Wendell Cox on Monday, November 2, 2015 in Argyros Forum, 209A 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. (brown bag lunch, lecture) and in Beckman Hall 107, 4-6:50 p.m. (class lecture).
\n
\nAbout the event(s): Cities are justified by the extent to which they facilitate the aspirations of people. As such, they are principally economic organism. Today’s largest cities have 40 times the population of the largest just 200 years ago.
\n
\nMore importantly, most people now live in urban environments, and that concentration will become even greater. The result is a wide variety of cities by nation, size, and urban form. Characteristics and differences will be discussed, relating to urbanization, land use, environment and transportation trends. The context will be the extent to which cities are fulfilling their purpose by “putting people first,” especially in the U.S. and California.
