Annual Rutan & Tucker Golden Quill Best Brief Winners Announced
Announced on June 25, 2020
Dina Gawad (JD ‘22) and Tyler Angelini (JD ’22) have been awarded the 2020 Rutan & Tucker Golden Quill award, which recognizes the top briefs written by 1L students at Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law in their spring semester Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research (LAWR) course. In connection with that course, first-year students research, brief, and argue issues that arise in a simulated case file.
Gawad, representing the plaintiff, and Angelini, representing the defendant, had to research and brief two issues in a mock federal employment law case involving the interpretation of Title VII. A panel of California attorneys selected Gawad and Angelini’s briefs from a group of finalists as the best briefs out of all of the LAWR course sections. For their outstanding written advocacy, the two winners will each receive a certificate of honor and a $500 award sponsored by Rutan & Tucker, LLP, a Costa Mesa, California-based law firm.
