Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge is located on the northwestern California coast near Arcata. The refuge protects wetlands and bay habitats for migratory birds, and includes the Lanphere Dunes. It is one of the most pristine dune ecosystems remaining in the Pacific Northwest.
