The Advisory Group on the Status of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Communities is working on many exciting project this semester. This Advisory Group is co-chaired by Lia Halloran, Assistant Professor in the Department of Art, Michael Nehring, Professor in the Department of Theatre, and Rose Mackenzie, Student and Chapman Feminist Co-President.

The Advisory Group on the Status of LGBTQ communities is working to establish a greater awareness of LGBTQ identities, issues, and struggles on campus through collaborative programming. This includes plans for speakers, a film festival, and a queer student/faculty/staff mixer. They are also working to develop a web resource for current and incoming students that will provide LGBTQ specific information and resources.

“We hope to establish one and five year plans that are optimistic, impactful, and effaceable,” says Rose Mackenzie, student co-chair of the group.

The group will be working with other Advisory Groups and Task Forces that are a part of the Chapman Diversity Project, as well as student organization and campus departments for Chapman-specific advocacy and action regarding gender inclusive restrooms and queer resources – both academic and co-curricular.
