It’s not every day one gets to be in the presence of today’s best-known NASA astronaut, see fresh photos of our planet from space, and hear the stories of a historic space flight. At Musco Center, you can do exactly that! Musco Center for the Arts is very pleased to present, “An Evening with Scott Kelly” Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30pm.  From life lessons and personal stories that reveal unique and valuable advice on pushing one’s own limits, to insight on the leadership and teamwork required in such demanding conditions and challenges, Scott Kelly will reflect on the choices and life events that paved his journey’s path.

After retiring from the U.S. Navy as an aviator and decorated captain, Scott Kelly made history this year by completing the longest-duration American space flight ever, a record-breaking 340 days aboard the International Space Station.  With Captain Kelly’s achievements over his illustrious 20-year career with NASA, the world remains in awe from his extraordinary adventures.

Whether it’s garnering national media exposure on the cover of Time, live interviews on TODAY, or conducting a health science experiment aboard the International Space Station (with his identical twin brother, Mark, serving as the Earth-bound control), Captain Kelly’s historic journey in space remains of immense value to those interested in scientific exploration beyond planet Earth.  The American public was captivated by the wonders of space travel with never-seen-before photos from the International Space Station, and videos online and from the Johnson Space Center’s Youtube channel; such as the video of Captain Kelly playing “liquid ping pong in space”.

You are invited to attend this event, where he will speak about his experience, share his beautiful photos of our blue planet, and discuss how the human body reacts to long-term space flight.  He will also discuss the implications of these space flights for travel to Mars and beyond.  These unparalleled life lessons, fascinating stories, and candid commentary about this epic journey will be sure to provide all who attend with a new appreciation for time and space!
