Garrett Aanestad (’16) and James Vigeant (’13), two alum from the Chapman Men’s Water Polo, continue their passion for the game by playing for Riptide Water Polo National League. The league is through USA Water Polo, and allows individuals to play at a high and competitive level. Aaenstad stated that “Our club as the only program to send two teams to the Fisher Cup Championship in San Diego, in which James and I were part of the second qualifying team that went undefeated in our division and secured a berth at the Fisher Cup where we played the top teams in the country, Olympic Club, UCI, and Mexico.”

During their time at Chapman, both Aanestad and Vigeant were able to achieve great things in the pool. While both received academic honors through the SCIAC All-Academic and WWPA All-Academic honor roll lists, Aanestad helped his team finished third in conference for both the 2014 and 2015 seasons, while Vigeant ranked third on his team for goals scored (43) and assists (39) for his 2012 season.

Overall, Aaenstad commented that being apart of this league has been a “Really fun experience and cool to get to play along with alumnus at this high level that we’re fortunate to do since water polo is still fairly small in the states.”
