Margo Pawell ’15 remembered for creativity and ambition
July 15, 2015
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Margo Pawell ’15. Margo courageously battled a chronic illness during her time as a student and graduated in May with a BFA in graphic design.
Claudine Jaenichen, associate professor and chair of the Department of Art, shared the following remarks about Margo:
“Margo’s fierce talent and passion for creative perfection was infectious. Her selflessness of showing kindness and compassion was unmatched. She exemplified determination and focus that was obvious to everyone who knew her and she excelled in everything she did. She was always thoughtful, charming and witty, and was a leader in our graphic design program. Margo was an executive officer in the Graphic Design Club, traveled to London for a graphic design course, held and excelled at numerous internships, all the while running her e-business making and selling her jewelry and textiles. She received our highest departmental honor, the Purcell Award, this past spring and graduated with departmental honors. Her devotion and commitment to art and design was driven by unparalleled self-discipline and work ethic. She applied and was accepted to FIDM for jewelry design and was planning to move to Los Angeles to continue her studies in design and art. Margo leaves an imprint that is undeniable and unforgettable.”
