Navigating the college experience amidst a global pandemic presented unique challenges for Eric Hall, an Economics and Philosophy double major with a Neuroscience minor. Initially hesitant about how to get involved at Chapman, Eric found his turning point through the Humanomics Summer Scholars Program. This experience fostered deep connections within the Chapman community and ignited a passion for research and collaboration that continues to define his journey.

Fostering Leadership

Eric, who now thrives as the president of the Student Government Association (SGA), exemplifies leadership and dedication. In addition to his SGA responsibilities, he actively participates in numerous organizations, including Kappa Alpha Pi, Omicron Delta Epsilon, Phi Sigma Tau, Sigma Chi, the Economics Society, Chess Club, Mortar Board, and the Anti-Philosophy Philosophers’ Forum.

Exploring Academic Passions

Eric’s academic journey began with a focus on Economics, a major chosen for its versatility and influence on his goal of pursuing law school. Encouragement from the Economic Science Institute solidified his interest, and he has since developed a love for the field, mainly through impactful courses like Labor Economics and The Philosophy and Neuroscience of Free Will. These classes offered academic enrichment, mentorship, and camaraderie with professors and upper-level students.

Building Legacies

One of Eric’s proudest accomplishments is establishing Omicron Delta Epsilon, Chapman’s Economics Honor Society. Overcoming the challenges of starting a new organization, Eric effectively created a lasting legacy, celebrated through events like the society’s initiation banquet, which remains a favorite memory.

Through his involvement in Humanomics classes and research, Eric has honed essential skills such as public speaking and building confidence. He credits the program for helping him find his voice and build deep and meaningful connections across campus.

Looking ahead, Eric aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics. Inspired by professionals like former Chapman professor Erin Crockett, he envisions a career that blends academia with economic consulting. Wherever his path leads, Eric’s perseverance, leadership, and commitment to growth ensure a bright future.

Chapman University is proud to spotlight Eric Hall, a shining example of the power of resilience, ambition, and community.
