Kenia Suarez, an MBA candidate at Chapman University’s Argyros College of Business and Economics, is set to graduate in 2025. A dedicated and driven leader, Suarez embodies the values of perseverance and ambition in both her academic and professional pursuits. Reflecting on her Chapman experience, Suarez describes it as transformative, highlighting how her time in the MBA program has expanded her knowledge, strengthened her leadership skills, and provided invaluable connections that will support her long-term career goals.

Engaging in Campus Life and Advocacy

Suarez is deeply committed to campus involvement, particularly fostering inclusivity and support for diverse communities. She has been actively engaged with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office at Dodge College, ensuring that student voices are heard and represented. Additionally, she has played a crucial role in the Chapman University Veteran’s Club, representing Argyros College and Dodge College. “As a part of the Chapman Veterans Club, I was able to connect fellow veterans with resources and contacts to help them broaden their communities and educational experiences,” Suarez explains. Her dedication to advocacy and student engagement has had a lasting impact on the Chapman community.

Academic Excellence and Transformative Experiences

Among the many courses that have shaped Suarez’s academic journey, BUS 604 Organization and Management with Professor Lloyd stands out as particularly influential. “The professor would challenge us while making the lectures fun and interactive. It was a pleasure learning from him,” she recalls. The engaging nature of the course helped her develop essential management skills, further preparing her for her ambitious career path.

Beyond coursework, Suarez emphasizes the importance of networking for students. “Network! Students should be networking as much as possible, attend conferences, and get to know other students, whether they are entering the same industry. Putting your name out there and not being scared to do so is important — it can go a long way,” she advises. Her proactive approach to building relationships has been vital in her professional development.

Aiming for Excellence in the Sports Industry

Suarez has her sights set on an impressive career goal: becoming the first Hispanic USMC Veteran Female Vice President of Administration for the Las Vegas Raiders. With a background in the sports industry, she is leveraging her MBA education to sharpen her leadership and administrative skills. Her journey at Chapman has reinforced the importance of communication, collaboration, and continuous learning.

One of her most significant challenges is balancing a full-time job while pursuing an MBA. However, she has learned to prioritize self-care and lean on her cohort for support. “Being a full-time employee and student during my first year was one of the biggest challenges at Chapman. But I overcame it by understanding my body and knowing when it had to rest and decompress. My cohort also played a big role as we were always willing to help each other and keep everyone on track,” she reflects.

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

Suarez’s favorite Chapman memories revolve around the friendships she has built. “Meeting classmates that shared the same enthusiasm as I did will be long-time friends, and knowing we will continue to support each other in the future just makes the experience so much more gratifying.,” she says. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance, community, and ambition.

With a strong foundation at Chapman, Suarez is well on her way to making history in the sports industry. Her journey inspires students looking to break barriers and create meaningful change in their fields.
