Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University receives 5 year Re-accreditation
April 2, 2014
The Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University has maintained its business accreditation granted by AACSB International —The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. This is the second time Chapman’s business program has maintained its AACSB accreditation after receiving initial accreditation.
AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world’s business programs. Today, there are 694 business schools in 45 countries and territories that maintain AACSB accreditation, less than 5 percent of the estimated number of schools offering business degrees worldwide.
“We could not be more excited to receive this renewal of our AACSB accreditation—the gold standard for top business schools internationally,” said Reggie Gilyard, dean of The Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University. “It is a validation of the high quality of our programs at the Argyros School; and a tribute to our faculty, staff, students, University leadership, Board of Counselors and community of supporters,” Gilyard continued.
The Argyros School has undergraduate programs in accounting, business administration and economics; and graduate programs in accounting, and economic system design.
Graduate programs include a full-time MBA, flex MBA, executive MBA, a 5-year MBA, and a Prague MBA. Joint graduate degrees offered are: the JD/MBA, MBA/MFA in film and TV producing, and MBA/MS in food science.
“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”
With an average student to faculty ratio of 14:1, The George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics also houses five research centers and institutes: The A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research, the C. Larry Hoag Center for Real Estate and Finance, the Institute for the study of Religion, Economics and Society, the Ralph W. Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics, and the Walter Schmid Center for International Business. Also affiliated with The Argyros School is the Economic Science Institute which offers a master’s degree in economic systems design. For more information visit www.chapman.edu/business
