Argyros School Students Tour Local Manufacturing Warehouse Leatherby Center Director Mario Leone Connects Students and Colleagues
March 13, 2019
Professor Mario Leone, Director of the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics recently facilitated a tour of a local manufacturing company for four Argyros School students. The students approached Professor Leone for an introduction to one of the many businesses he is connected to in need of a site tour as part of their operations class project. As a senior business consultant and member of the Advisory Board for KB Delta, Professor Leone coordinated a tour. KB Delta is a family run business founded nearly 40 years ago and is a manufacturer and supplier of compressor valve repair parts.
KB Delta’s founder, Boris Giourof, met with the group as did his son George, COO and Kevin Cain, VP Operations & Technology. The three men went through the company’s history, business strategy including growth and acquisitions, the complex supply chain and the manufacturing operations the company operates under. Along with the discussion, the students were able to get a tour of the facility and see examples of the manufacturing in process, view inventory management and get a glimpse at how KB Delta manages 16,000 SKUs in their supply chain.
The visit was informative for the students completing their class project, while giving them a fun and hands on view on the manufacturing world. See photos from their tour below.
