Giancarlo Guardia, originally from Peru, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and is currently pursuing his Full-Time MBA at Chapman University, with an expected graduation in 2025. His journey at Chapman has been shaped by the vibrant community, diverse experiences, and academic rigor, making his time here both enriching and transformative.

Reflecting on his experience, Giancarlo shared, “My experience at Chapman has been outstanding. As an international student from Peru, the support and closeness with classmates, professors, and staff have been invaluable for my adjustment and engagement in this new environment.” This sense of community has been a cornerstone of his success, providing him with the support system necessary to thrive in a new country.

Active Involvement and Professional Growth

Giancarlo’s involvement on campus extends beyond the classroom. He has participated in numerous networking events, not only at Chapman but also through collaborations with other institutions. He emphasized the value of these experiences, stating, “Chapman excels in bringing in diverse guest speakers, many of whom are executives and renowned professionals with impressive careers and experiences.” This exposure has played a significant role in his professional development, offering insights and connections that have been instrumental in shaping his career path.

One of his favorite campus activities has been attending musical events at the Musco Center for the Arts. He described the experience as exceptional, thanks to the auditorium’s architecture, which enhances the overall listening experience.

Academic Experiences

Throughout his time at Chapman, several courses have stood out to Giancarlo for their profound impact on his academic and professional journey. He particularly highlights three: Financial Analysis, Special Topics in International Business, and the International Travel Course to Scandinavia. Each of these courses has equipped him with critical skills and knowledge, from analyzing financial statements to understanding the geopolitical landscape of Asia-Pacific economies, and experiencing business practices in Sweden and Finland.

Reflecting on these experiences, Giancarlo noted, “The International Travel course was a highlight of my time at Chapman. It allowed us to learn about different industries in a unique business environment, explore new places, and attend networking events with students and guests from diverse backgrounds.”

Looking Ahead

With a strong foundation in both industrial engineering and business, Giancarlo is focused on a future where he can make a significant impact in the energy and technology sectors. His long-term goal is to work for an international company, leading a regional team, where he can contribute to advancements in sustainability and energy efficiency.
