Anna Pragnell, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration graduate, is currently working towards her Master of Science in Real Estate with a minor in Law and Liberal Arts. She is set to graduate in 2025, and her journey at Chapman University has been anything but ordinary. From campus involvement to academic rigor, Anna’s story is one of self-discovery, growth, and perseverance.

Reflecting on her Chapman experience, Anna highlights the supportive and welcoming community, which has made her time at Chapman truly fulfilling. “Chapman has offered me many opportunities to get involved in things I’m passionate about, whether it’s through clubs, leadership roles, or other creative outlets,” she shares. It’s this blend of academic and extracurricular engagement that has enriched her time at the university.

A Multifaceted Campus Involvement

Anna’s involvement on campus extends far beyond the classroom. She took full advantage of the diverse range of activities Chapman offers, including hosting her own show on Chapman Radio. “Having my own radio show was a fun creative outlet and a way to express myself beyond academics,” she says. Anna also engaged in various organizations such as a sorority, where she formed lasting bonds and participated in philanthropy, and the Snow Club, which connected her with fellow students who shared her passion for outdoor adventures.

Currently, Anna is an active member of Disciples on Campus, a leadership-focused group that also emphasizes service and spirituality. “We plan fun activities, worships, and trips, which bring a lot of joy and connection to our campus community,” she says, highlighting how the group has become a cornerstone of her Chapman experience.

Choosing Chapman for the Long Haul

Anna’s choice to continue her education at Chapman for her master’s degree was a natural progression. “The Argyros College of Business and Economics stood out for its rigorous academics and real-world business applications,” she explains. It was the combination of supportive faculty and a positive student community that made Chapman feel at home. She notes that continuing her studies at Argyros College will provide her with the tools and opportunities she needs to succeed in her career.

One academic experience that particularly shaped Anna’s path was taking a real estate finance course with Professor Fadel. “The course was both intellectually and academically challenging, and it really solidified my passion for real estate finance,” she says. Now in her graduate studies, Anna is deepening her knowledge in this field with the same professor, further refining her expertise in real estate.

The Real-World Experience

Anna’s passion for real estate isn’t just confined to the classroom. She gained invaluable experience during her internship at Bixby Capital Management, a REIT in Newport Beach. “My internship allowed me to dive into various aspects of the real estate industry, from property management to investment analysis,” she explains. This hands-on experience reinforced her desire to pursue her master’s in real estate and opened her eyes to the potential of a long-term career in the field.

To students seeking internships or jobs, Anna offers practical advice: “Remain patient. I remember feeling discouraged when I didn’t land an internship right away, but opportunities will come, and they may turn out to be better than what you initially imagined.” She also encourages students to take advantage of LinkedIn and connect with Chapman alumni, as they can be an invaluable resource.

Real Estate and Beyond

Anna’s long-term career goal is to work in real estate finance, with aspirations to eventually own and manage her own portfolio of investment properties. “As I gain more experience, I aim to transition into working for myself,” she shares, envisioning a career that provides flexibility and growth within the real estate industry.

Despite the challenges Anna faced, including starting college during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she has built a fulfilling and successful journey. “Getting involved and staying determined can truly transform your college experience for the better,” she reflects. From her undergraduate graduation to the connections she has made, Anna’s Chapman story is one of resilience, ambition, and an unwavering passion for her field.
