Leadership & Service Opportunities with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is recognized as a hub for critical reflection, meaningful dialog, and pedagogical resources to support faculty development, as well as a leader in the advancement of academic excellence and student success on campus.

As you weigh options for professional leadership and/or service to the university, please consider becoming part of the CETL team during the academic year 2024-2025 as either a Faculty Fellow or a Faculty Associate.

Ways our fellows and associates can support CETL services and projects for the year:

  • Participate in and/or develop high-quality programs for faculty (e.g., workshops, symposiums, etc.)
  • Curate resources and materials for CETL’s faculty-facing website and newsletter, in print or digital formats (e.g., a 1- to 2-minute video clip of faculty testimonials; just-in-time teaching tips; etc.).
  • Provide insight into the pedagogical interests, needs, and perspectives of your college/school.
  • Facilitate school/college-wide communication of upcoming CETL events.
  • Advance CETL’s communication and marketing strategies and materials.

Role Options

Faculty Fellow

Faculty Fellows (FFs) are tenure-track (TT) or non-tenure-track (NTT) faculty members who 1) have a passion for teaching and learning, 2) possess pedagogical expertise and/or demonstrated excellence in teaching, and 3) who have a desire to serve in an educational leadership role at Chapman University. Faculty Fellows receive a stipend ($45/hr.) to work with the Center. The commitment requires service of 3 hours per week. Appointments are for one term (12 weeks), with the possibility of extending into a second term (shorter terms are available in the summer and interterm periods).

Faculty Associate

Faculty Associates (FA) are TT or NTT faculty members who have a desire to deepen their pedagogical expertise and support the development of other colleagues. FAs collaborate with CETL staff to develop and deliver just-in-time programs and services. In this service role, FAs will work approximately 3-4 hours per month. Faculty Associates serve in this capacity for one term (12 weeks), with the possibility of extending to a second term (shorter terms are available in the summer and interterm periods). Upon completion of the FA contract, the CETL will provide the faculty associate with a letter acknowledging service to the university.
