The Escalette Collection of Art is excited to share Through Our Lens: The Unification of Asian American Voices at Chapman University, a virtual exhibition curated by Chapman student and Art Ambassador Candace Chen as part of her internship at the Chinese American Museum.

Chen writes, “With the recent increase of anti-Asian hate, it is crucial to expose the issues of AAPI students to others in order to create awareness and increase advocacy for diversity and inclusion within university institutions.” The three artists from Chapman University featured in this exhibition collaborated with the Chinese American Museum to create a space to express themselves and speak about their AAPI experiences through a variety of media.

Kelsy Hua

Kelsy Hua is a Vietnamese-American digital and traditional artist from Santa Ana, CA.. She is a double major in Business Administration and Graphic Design. Hua hopes to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, perhaps has a film/television producer or as an art director.

David Yang

David Yang is a Korean American from Cerritos, CA. He currently lives in Orange, CA and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a Studio Art minor at Chapman University.

Jeanna Polisini

Jeanna Polisini was born in Dianbai and adopted from Guangzhou, China at 10 months old. She was raised in Thousand Oaks, CA. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Studio Art at Chapman University. While she is a photographer first, her practice has evolved into mixing photography with other mediums, such as installation and sculpture. Polisini’s artwork often brings awareness to anthropogenic environmental issues and her identity as an adopted Asian American.
