Smiling Black woman with traditional headdress, large pink disc earrings, and black cardigan.The College of Performing Arts kicks off its fall 2021 Conscious Speaker Series with guest artist Lula Washington, founder and artistic director of Lula Washington Dance Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Ms. Washington and her husband, Erwin, started the dance company in 1980 to provide a creative outlet for minority dance artists in the inner city. Today, Lula and her Company are revered across the United States and around the world. The Company has danced in over 150 cities in the United States, as well as abroad in Germany, Spain, Kosovo, Mexico, Canada, China, and Russia.

There will be a public Q&A session via Zoom, as well as master classes for Chapman dance students on Friday, September 10, 2021.
