Jamkotchian ’15 wins 2015 MTAC South Region Concerto-Solo Competition

Congratulations go out to Arsen Jamkotchian ’15 whose solo won the 2015 Concerto-Solo Competition sponsored by the Music Teachers’ Association of California, South Region, on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at El Camino College in Torrance, CA.
Jamkotchian’s Division IV-winning solo performance of Prokofiev Sonata No. 6 in A Major, Op. 82 (2nd, 4th movements) earns him a spot on the team of other regional finalists who will represent Southern California at the MTAC State Competition during the organization’s 105th Convention in San Jose, CA, July 3-7, 2015. Jamkotchian will perform his winning piece before a panel of judges in a highly competitive setting. All finalists receive prize monies underwritten in part by the Piano Technicians Guild.
To be eligible, the applicant’s teacher must be a MTAC member and the applicant must be enrolled with the same teacher for at least six months prior to regional auditions. Jamkotchian is a student of Chapman’s Director of Keyboard Studies, Dr. Grace Fong.
