Piano Performance Major Wins Contemporary Music Festival Competition

Evan Roth (’13), piano performance major, won first place at the Contemporary Music Festival State Final Competition in the 4-year college category. The competition was held on April 27th at the State Conference 2013 for the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT), which is affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association.

Music Students Win Awards at Percussive Arts Society Competition

Congratulations to music major Joy Liu (’15) for her first place wins at the California Percussive Arts Society’s Competition Festival this April.  Joy placed first in both the collegiate solo multiple-percussion and the collegiate solo marimba divisions. Also congratulations to music major Christina Cheon (’14), who placed second in the collegiate solo marimba division.

Music Alumna to Work for Florentine Opera Studio

Music alumna Erin Gonzalez (’08) has been chosen for a mezzo studio artist position in the Florentine Opera Studio in Milwaukee for the 2013 – 2014 season.  She will also be an Advanced Artist in the OperaWorks training program in Los Angeles this summer.

Milena Kitic Signs LA Opera Contract

The Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music Artist-In-Residence, mezzo-soprano Milena Kitic, has signed a contract with LA Opera for the 2013-2014 season.  She will perform the title role in Carmen on Sept 28, and will also appear in the run of  Thais with Plácido Domingo as Athanael.
