Dodge College had the immense honor of hosting back-to-back Master Classes with none other than this year’s Hollywood superstars and Oscar-nominated actors Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser.

If you saw Everything Everywhere All at Once and Waymond’s face looked familiar, you may remember actor Ke Huy Quan from Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom or The Goonies. If you went to see Darren Aronofsky’s newest film, The Whale, you might recognize star Brendan Fraser from The Mummy and Journey to the Center of the Earth. If there is an inkling in your brain that these two were on screen together at some point in time, you probably watched 1992’s Encino Man.

Hollywood and the press have been leaning into the idea that this is really a comeback year for these two. Brendan never stopped acting after his role in The Mummy, and Quan — after graduating from USC — continued working in the industry as a stunt coordinator on big Hollywood films. While you may not have seen them on screen as frequently as you have been recently, they were never gone.

They have both traveled a long road from Encino Man to get to where they are today. Most recently, the two of them took home Critics Choice and BAFTA awards for their respective roles. Quan will soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the second season of Loki, while Fraser stars beside Leonardo DiCaprio in Scorsese’s upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon.

Dodge College can’t thank these two enough for joining us and sharing stories from their life and career in the industry to benefit a future generation of filmmakers. We, the students, are beyond excited to see what projects they have in their future and hope to join them on set one day. They have regained their rightful positions at the front of our hearts like they did so many years ago, and now, they are here to stay.

Keep an eye out for the rest of Dodge’s Master Classes this semester!
