Digital Arts Club Welcomes VFX Superstar John Knoll (Avatar, Star Wars IV-VI, Pirates of the Carribbean)
November 19, 2013
Digital Arts students are in for a real treat right after Thanksgiving – and this one’s non-fattening!
Professor Bill Kroyer of the Digital Arts program, has invited John Knoll – an incredibly famous star of the visual effects community, as Bill is himself – to speak to the Digital Arts club! He’ll be here
December 4, at 7PM, in Argyros 208
(on the main campus).
John Knoll is a visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic, one of the premier VFX studios in the world. He is an Oscar winner, and five time nominee for VFX.
John will speak about his techniques, the digital arts industry, and his work on recent films; with an epic legacy of work extending all the way from the original Star Wars film, through the recent digital ‘upgrades’ of George Lucas’ masterpieces and beyond, Mr. Knoll has a unique perspective on how the tools and attitudes have changed.
As usual, we’ll have an extended Q&A period, in which students are encouraged to seek out his professional and artistic advice.
