Lack of access to clean drinking water is an immediate issue that needs to be addressed. Our goal was to build a cost-effective and efficient solar desalination model that can bring clean drinking water to families in need. For our solution, we devised a blueprint of our portable solar desalination model, estimated an idealistic water production rate for a family of four-five, tested and gathered hard data on water purification under fresnel lens, and evaluated if our small-scale fresnel lens desalination model can effectively produce a substantial amount of drinking water for families in need.
