The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education (VPGE) would like to congratulate the 101 graduate and professional students whose academic work resulted in 210 external publications, presentations, honors, grants, and awards this past academic year (2018-2019). These students’ successes deserve celebration not only because they advance these students’ academic progress but because they inspire their local peers and international academe about achieving Anything Imaginable at Chapman.

We would like to highlight the outsized contributions to scholarly productivity from Michael Doria, Ph.D. candidate in Education with 8 achievements; Salena Marie Preciado, M.S. candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences with 7 achievements; Courtney Farrell, Ph.D. candidate in Education with 6 achievements; and Wenzhao Li, Ph.D. candidate in Computation and Data Sciences with 6 achievements. While representing only 4% of the students who submitted to the VPGE Achievement database, their achievements represent 13% of the total! In terms of top-producing graduate programs, our students making progress towards their master’s or doctoral degrees in Education, Creative Writing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and English account for over half of the contributions to scholarly excellence. Dr. Anna Leahy, Professor, Director, MFA in Creative Writing in Wilkinson College and Dr. Michael Hass, Professor and Program Director in Attallah College were most frequently listed as advisers for these high-achieving students.

Presentations and publications comprised two-thirds of the accomplishments.  From as close as Santa Ana and as far away as Delhi, Chapman students have traveled extensively to present their creative and scholarly work. Achievement Charts Current graduate students are encouraged throughout this academic year to enter their new achievements in real-time to this year’s database. All students who enter their achievements by mid-March are invited to the Annual Graduate & Professional Student Excellence Dinner held each May.
