On the face of it, the miraculous would seem to have no place in Holocaust testimony or in the Holocaust in general. Yet, for some witnesses, recounting the miraculous is of equal importance with remembering the horror they experienced. In this lecture, renowned Holocaust scholar Alan Rosen examines how the celebration of miracles co-exists in survivor testimony with the description of suffering and loss, creating a more nuanced understanding of what victims of the Holocaust experienced and why they felt a deep spiritual obligation to testify.
