Grants

Dr. Sherry Wang has been declared the Principal Investigator for her study titled: “A real-world study assessing utilization of buprenorphine treatments”. The New Investigator Award is provided by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

Dr. Ajay Sharma has received a $1.7 million dollar grant from the National Eye Institute for his study on the “Role of Macrophages in ocular GVHD”. The award will last for five years.

Myles presented on the “Structure-function studies of loss-of-function KCa2.2 mutant channels” at the Biophysical Society 67th Annual Meeting from February 19-23rd, 2023 in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Lawrence “LB” Brown, alongside others, published “Citizenship Matters: Non-Citizen COVID-19 Mortality Disparities in New York and Los Angeles” in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

Dr. Rachita Sumbria, research specialist Drs. Rudy Chang and Jiahong Sun Vallejo, and other researchers published “Chronic kidney disease promotes cerebral microhemorrhage formation” in the Journal of Neuroinflammation.

Dr. Lawrence “LB” Brown and PhD candidate Olajide Adekunle published the “Investigation of predictors influencing patient-pharmacist relationship establishment” in the Journal of American Pharmacists Association, alongside others.

Dr. Sherry Wang collaborated on publishing “Not a waste: Wastewater surveillance to enhance public healthin Frontiers in Chemical Engineering.

Drs. Enrique Seoane-Vazquez, Lawrence “LB” Brown, and PhD candidate Olajide Adekunle published the “Cost-effectiveness analysis of androgen deprivation therapy with relugolix for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer” in the Journal of American Pharmacists Association.

Drs. Jerika Lam and Amy Kang wrote on Viral Hepatitis in “Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs“, 12th edition. In the same text, Dr. Mary Gutierrez collaborated with Dr. Jerika Lam on a section concerning Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Dr. Keykavous Parang, Dr. Hamidreza Montazeri Aliabadi, Dr. Rakesh Tiwari, postdoctoral fellows Dr. Sandeep Lohan, research associate Dr. Muhummed Imran Sajid, and student Abdulelah Alhazza published “Modified linear peptides effectively silence STAT-3 in breast cancer and ovarian cancer cell lines” in the journal, Pharmaceutics.

Dr. Lawrence “LB” Brown and PhD candidate Olajide Adekunle published “Financial hardship from purchasing prescription drugs among older adults in the United States before, during, and after the Medicare Part D ‘Donut Hole’: Findings from 1998, 2001, 2015, and 2021” with other researchers in the Journal of Managed Care and Speciality Pharmacy.

Michael Sayer, Richard Beuttler, Moom Roosan, and PhD candidate Ashley Duche, among other researchers, published “Predicting survival of NSCLC patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors: Impact and timing of immune-related adverse events and prior tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy” in Frontiers in Oncology.
