Established in 2021, the Doctor of Pharmacy Leadership Emphasis (LE) program was created with the intent to shape well-rounded student leaders, both in and out of the classroom, by empowering them with the skills and knowledge to become exemplary leaders in healthcare. At the heart of the emphasis program lies the commitment to equip candidates with personal and professional skill sets, including confidence, empathy, and innovation, as well as skills in communication, collaboration, and ethical decision-making.

The inaugural cohort was comprised of five outstanding students who were selected from a pool of applicants based on their academic performance and Chapman involvement. The five inaugural candidates, Mariam, Journey, Tali, Rosa, and Megan, held numerous leadership positions with student organizations and were collectively involved in 7 research projects. The full scope of the first cohort’s activity can be found in the 2023 newsletter.

The next cohort for the emphasis program has been selected, representing PharmD candidates from the Class of 2025. Applicants for the incoming PharmD class of 2026 open in the fall.
