Cloud computing experts convene at Chapman University, Nov. 28
ORANGE, Calif. (November 8, 2011) — Chapman University is bringing together top cloud computing experts for a half-day symposium on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. Experts from Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), Appirio, KnowledgeCentrix and Chapman University will reveal the latest in cloud computing technology and how businesses are harnessing the power of cloud computing to drive new technological advancements and innovation, and save money.
The term ‘cloud computing’ comes from the visual image of a cloud of data that floats out on the Internet, and which can be accessed from anywhere there’s an Internet connection, on any computing device. Cloud computing enables the user to do the same things on their computer, such as office tasks or storing files, except done online.
Cloud’s powerful value proposition – anytime, anywhere, anyone – is accelerating speed to market for companies’ products and services. The event will demonstrate how adopting a comprehensive, multiyear cloud strategy can help organizations leverage the cloud to improve performance, competitiveness and customer care, while keeping data well protected.
“The intention of cloud computing is to make the functionality and data we need always accessible no matter where we are in the world, and no matter what we’re using to access the Internet, said Menas Kafatos, Ph.D., dean of Chapman’s Schmid College of Science and Technology. “If an online storage service is used, there’s no need to buy server hardware, for example, or to pay for staff to maintain hardware.”
Attendees will hear success stories from industry leaders about how the game is changing in the corporate world and how developing a high level “cloud adoption vision,” and a strong social enterprise strategy aligns with organization’s business objectives and strategy.
The symposium is Monday, Nov. 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Media are invited. For more information and to register, visit: https://www.signup4.net/public/ap.aspx?EID=THEP32E&OID=50
