Chapman University to host Home Ownership Day January 14, 2017 Event is free and open to the public
The Hoag Center for Real Estate and Finance at Chapman University will host the 5th annual Home Ownership Day on its Orange campus, Saturday, January 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free educational event, which features 20 targeted sessions for maximizing real estate, is open to the public.
Topics, such as: first time buyers and loans, ways to improve your credit score, reverse mortgages, the escrow process, selling your home, including a session on what veterans need to know, are presented by experts for free to attendees. A full list of sessions during the three-hour free event can be found at www.ochomefair.com
Past OC Home Fair attendee Javid Hovaida said, “The OC Home Fair helped my wife Dana and I learn about the process behind making a first home purchase. Whenever you are contemplating such a large financial transaction, typically a first home, the process is very stressful and confusing at first. The information provided by the fair was essential to make an educated decision and a solid investment for our futures.”
“This is the second year the OC Home Fair will take place in January – looking to attract, educate and help attendees with the New Year’s resolutions to make the leap on a real estate venture,” said Fadel Lawandy, director of Chapman University’s Hoag Center for Real Estate and Finance. “With home values growing at a faster pace than wages, and home affordability continuing to be a challenge for many middle-class, first-time home buyers results in a community with many questions and uncertainties. We want to be there to offer relief to some of these uncertainties by providing knowledge and information.”
Past attendee Javid Hovaida continued, “The best thing about the event was that we could supplement the knowledge that we had attained from attending several fair courses combined with our own research. About one year later, here we are celebrating our first purchase (a complicated sale) and with some equity already saved! Overall, we would say that attending the OC Home Fair was one of the best decisions we made during the home buying process and that we highly recommend it for any type of buyers.”
Major sponsors of the OC Home Fair include: The Hoag Center at Chapman University, The Orange County Register, NeighborWorks Orange County, VA Rep, the Affordable Housing Clearinghouse, and the Young Professionals Network.
While the event is free and open to the public, registration for the seminars is requested at: www.ochomefair.com
