What:                     Leaders in recruiting and retaining Latino/a students in higher education come together with academic experts in the field, as well as a student panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges Latino/a students face. For those who are first-generation in their family to go to college, unique challenges may also arise.

 When:                          Thursday, March 9, 2017, 9 a.m. to noon. Continental breakfast begins at 8 a.m.

Where:                        Chapman University’s Beckman Hall, Room #404, in Orange, CA.

Details:                        Presented by both Chapman University and the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE), welcoming remarks from Chapman President Daniele Struppa, AAHHE President Loui Olivas, a video welcome from actor Edward James Olmos; featured speakers Dr. Antonia Darder of Loyola Marymount University, Dr. Miguel Zavala of Chapman University; and a student panel moderated by Dr. S. Oliver Lopez Najera of Chapman University. The day will be moderated by former Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, and present at the event will be Chapman Presidential Fellow in Education, AAHHE Board Member, and long-time community presence Reuben Martinez.
