Chapman University hosts Deepak Chopra and Menas Kafatos for a talk on their new book on May 13 Event is free and open to the public – book signing to follow MEDIA INVITED
Well known pioneer in integrative medicine Deepak Chopra, M.D., will visit Chapman University for a public talk on May 13 on his latest book You Are the Universe: Discovering Your Cosmic Self and Why it Matters – coauthored by Chapman physicist Menas Kafatos, Ph.D., who will also present at the talk. All are welcome to attend the 6 p.m. event as well as stay for a book signing.
You are the Universe is the first time they have co-authored a book, although they have edited other books and wrote many book chapters and articles before. Released in February of this year the book quickly rose to the top of the New York Times Bestseller list. The book guides the reader into a realm in which each person has the power to transform their personal existence, while at the same time fashioning a story about how time, space, matter and energy came into existence that overturns the traditional assumptions of an external reality in science, although in agreement and extending the views of the quantum world. An alliance of spirituality and science, You are the Universe contends with questions such as:
What came before the big bang?
Where did time come from?
What is the universe made of?
Is there design in the universe?
How did life first begin?
Does the brain create the mind?
Do we live in a conscious universe?
“We contemplate our relationship with reality,” said Dr. Kafatos. “Everyone has their own personal relationship with reality. Here we explore reality through science and the origin and nature of the cosmos; and postulate that the universe is one undivided whole that is living and evolving – a conscious universe that responds to how we think and feel.”
The talk will take place at Chapman University’s Memorial Hall at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. Both Chopra and Kafatos will sign copies of their new book after the talk. Books will be available for purchase at the event. The talk is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
