ORANGE, Calif., February 20, 2015 — At Chapman University’s annual State of the University Address, presented by President James L. Doti, Ph.D. on Friday, February 20, the newest members of the University’s governing boards (Board of Trustees and Board of Governors) were welcomed.

CEO of Janes Capital Partners of Irvine, Calif., has been named the new Chairman of Chapman’s Board of Trustees.

 

NEW MEMBERS OF THE CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Akin Ceylan, COO of Lionsgate Home Entertainment and a 1990 Chapman graduate, is one of Chapman University’s new trustees.


Akin Ceylan
, a 1990 Chapman University graduate, is COO of Lionsgate Home Entertainment.  As COO, he sets the strategic direction for the company’s content operations, providing industry leadership in service and efficient performance. Previously, he was senior vice president for domestic operations at MGM Studios.  His daughter attends Chapman.

Stan Harrelson
is partner and past CEO of AMS, LLC, which he built from modest beginnings into an international organization with operations in 44 states.  He is also vice chair for the USO and a board member of Habitat for Humanity.  He previously served on Chapman’s Board of Governors since 2012.

 

NEW MEMBERS OF THE CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Barbara Brogliatti
is a public relations and cause marketing strategist, noted as one of the foremost experts on entertainment publicity and corporate and crisis communications.  She retired from Warner Bros as executive vice president to focus largely on philanthropy and teaching.

Paul Cook
is general manager of the Irvine Water District, where he helps lead innovative water-supply projects.  He also serves on Chapman’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences Advisory Council.  Cook’s wife, Laura, is the daughter of Don and Marty Schmid, among the benefactors of Chapman’s Schmid College of Science and Technology.

Greg Geiger
is a principal and founding member of Westport Capital Partners, where he is portfolio managers of the firm’s private equity funds.   Westport manages more than $1.4B, representing institutions such as university endowments.  Geiger’s daughter is a volleyball standout at Chapman.

Steven Greinke
is COO of Southern Counties Oil Co., one of the nation’s largest petroleum distributors – a family-owned business founded by his grandfather. He also serves on the board of the Fuel Relief Fund, which provides free fuel after major disasters.

Galen Grillo
is vice president, planning and enterprise integration, for the Automobile Club of Southern California.  He holds an EMBA (‘13) from Chapman University, and helped develop the Chapman’s permanent public exhibit honoring the late TV travel host Huell Howser.

Michael Penn
is a graduate of Chapman’s Fowler School of Law (J.D. ’04) and is a trial attorney at the prominent OC law firm Aitken Aitken & Cohn.  He also serves as president of the Celtic Bar Association of Orange County.  His wife, Ashleigh, is also an attorney at the firm and is the daughter of Wylie Aitken, vice chairman of the Chapman Board of Trustees.
