Chapman University Chief of Public Safety Randy Burba will be among the senior leaders of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) who will meet with Members of Congress on public safety issues at higher education institutions during IACLEA’s 2017 Capitol Hill Day, Wednesday, March 8, 2017. On Thursday, March 9, 2017, representatives of five federal agency offices will meet with the delegation from IACLEA, the nation’s leading authority for campus public safety.
IACLEA is the premier campus public safety organization offering training, technical expertise, and professional development to its nearly 3,000 members, as well as policing expertise to the public, administrators, and policy makers. Burba is the organization’s president through June 2017. As the 115th Congress convenes, IACLEA delegates will advance policies to ensure equity in death benefits to officers at private institutions; common-sense revision to campus crime reporting regulations; and efforts to protect students from gender violence on campus.
IACLEA brass will hold a Memorial Ceremony for the 43 campus and university public safety officers who were killed in the line of duty from 1923 – 2016. Burba will deliver remarks during the ceremony. The ceremony will take place at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial at 9 am Friday, March 10.
