What:                         Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law will receive the 2017 Ninth Circuit Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Education Award in recognition of the good work of the school’s Mediation Clinics. This award recognizes law schools within the 9th Circuit for demonstrated commitment to advancing education in the field of alternative dispute resolution.

 

When:                         Thursday, November 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The award will be presented by Ninth Circuit ADR Committee Chair, Andrew P. Gordon, U.S. District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the Appellate Courtroom, followed by a reception in the lobby of Kennedy Hall.

Details:                       Chapman’s Mediation Clinics are doing innovative work providing students to help ease court congestion at Riverside and Orange County courts by providing mediation services in over 700 actual cases each year; working with juvenile offenders and their victims in a unique Restorative Justice program; and, providing counseling and conflict resolution training for youth in juvenile hall.
