Chapman University has hired a new Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Communications. Jamie Ceman assumed the position on February 6 and oversees a team of 40 individuals who make up the Strategic Marketing and Communications Department. Ceman comes to Chapman from the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh with 20 years’ experience in marketing.

“Jamie brings to her new position a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of digital marketing, higher education market research, and constituent relationship management,” said Sheryl Bourgeois, Ph.D., executive vice president, university advancement. “We look forward to her leadership and expertise taking our marketing and communications to the next level and raising Chapman’s awareness nationally.”

Chapman’s Strategic Marketing and Communications is responsible for comprehensive marketing for all 10 schools and colleges at the University. The department is tasked with telling the collective Chapman story while also meeting the individual communication and marketing needs for the many colleges and departments across campus. In her role Ceman will oversee the central team and supporting the integrated strategy for the entire University.

At Oshkosh, Ceman led the centralized marketing efforts, directed partner relationships and services, and oversaw the in-house development of one of the university’s most successful student recruitment marketing efforts. She is the recipient of numerous professional awards, including recognition from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (Hermes and MarCom Awards) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Circle of Excellence. Additionally, Ceman and her team at Oshkosh were the first-ever winners of the American Marketing Association’s Higher Education Marketer of the Year Award in 2012.

Prior to her experience in higher education, Jamie served as Internet Marketing Manager for Silver Star Brands and e-Commerce Marketing Manager for J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. Jamie also spent four years as an Internet Architect and e-Business Consultant for Oracular, Inc. In 2012, Ceman went back to her alma mater – the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh to oversee the university’s web presence. During her tenure at the University of Wisconsin, Ceman moved through the ranks ultimately achieving the role of Assistant Chancellor of University Marketing and Communications, directly reporting to the Chancellor.

An alumna of Oshkosh, Jamie earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management Information Systems. She also holds a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University.
