ORANGE, Calif. – The bar results from the July 2012 California State Bar Exam show that Chapman is one of only seven California ABA schools to exceed the 80 percent mark this year, surpassing schools such as UC Davis, UC Hastings and Loyola, and ranking right after UC Berkeley.

First time takers from Chapman University School of Law have passed at an 82 percent rate—an increase over last year’s 79 percent pass rate and the highest pass rate in the law school’s 13 year history. And for the second consecutive year, Chapman has exceeded the California ABA school average in both the February and July exams.

“The Chapman Law Students put in a tremendous performance on the California bar exam. They beat the state average by a huge amount,” said Tom Campbell, dean of Chapman’s School of Law. “Chapman’s percentage of passage has grown by 12 points in the past two years, at a time when the state average has risen just two points. Our 2012 graduates make us all proud, and reconfirm: Chapman Law is on the rise!”

Chapman had 157 law students take the bar exam for this first time in July—of those 128 passed.
