Fram Virjee joins the Fowler School of Law Business Law Emphasis Advisory Board
Chapman University Fowler School of Law has added Fram Virjee to its Business Law Emphasis Program Advisory Board. Mr. Virjee is currently the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel of the California State University system.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Fram Virjee as part of our Board,” said Tom Campbell, Dean of the Fowler School of Law. “He has a most impressive record of achievement and I’m very happy to be adding an element of legal work in the fields of education, non-profit management, and government to the expertise on our board.”
Virjee came from the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers where he spent his career specializing in several industries including employment, education, aerospace, retail, manufacturing and financial services. Virjee also taught labor and employment law at the Drucker Center at Claremont Graduate School, as well as at Chapman. In his current appointment as the Executive Vice Chancellor and General Counsel for the California State University system, Virjee covers all 23 campuses, encompassing 450,000 students and 50,000 employees.
“I am very excited to join the Business Law Emphasis Advisory Board for the Fowler School of Law,” noted Virjee. “I have always been both extremely interested in and dedicated to the mission of excellence in education and the pursuit of knowledge,” he added. “It is hard to find a place where that mission is more important than Chapman University, and that is especially true for the Fowler School of Law.”
Originally from England, Virjee received undergraduate degrees from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. As the son of a ship captain, Virjee spent much of his childhood travelling before coming to the United States.
The Business Law Emphasis Advisory Board consists of general counsel from major corporations, providing advice to Dean Campbell on the program’s curriculum, priorities, programs and corporate partnerships. Among the corporations where general counsel serve on the Board are Allergan, Angels Baseball, Edwards Lifesciences, Los Angeles Dodgers and Paramount Pictures.
