Assistant Director, Legacy Planning

Paula and Chuck McCance joined the Chapman Family in 1999 when their son, Dustin, was accepted to Chapman University. In 2003, their connection deepened: Dustin graduated, their daughter, Shannon, started as a first-year student and Paula was hired to help develop a Parent Relations program for the university.

In 2004, Paula joined Town & Gown and she was invited to join the T&G Board of Directors in 2015. Since then, Chuck has also become involved in this wonderful group. Paula is concluding her two-year term as President, during which a 5-year strategic plan was created for the organization. Included in the strategic plan is the goal of doubling the T&G Legacy Circle membership. The generous scholarships their children received inspired Chuck and Paula to focus their philanthropy on scholarship support, which is why their legacy gift will bolster the T&G Endowed Scholarship.

Leading by Example
When asked why she and Chuck decided to create a legacy gift for T&G, Paula shared that she has been inspired by seeing others’ legacies fulfilled. “Serving as President of T&G, I wanted to lead by example. As I learned more about T&G Legacy Circle and the various ways to plan for a gift in perpetuity, it became clear that we could capitalize on this by naming Chapman as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy that my parents created for me when I was just 18 years old. This is one of the simplest ways to leave a legacy gift.” Wishing to inspire others, Paula and Chuck agreed to let us share their story with you.

Town & Gown Legacy Circle
Like Paula and Chuck, these Town & Gown members have thoughtfully chosen to enhance their legacy by creating a legacy gift to support Chapman University’s Town & Gown.
