…David May
, director of web and interactive marketing, was on a reality show?
“I was on a show called
On the Lot
. You can see the short that was filmed in Chapman’s old Admission office
here
(when they were on the 3
rd
floor of AF)

On the Lot
was produced by Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett and was supposed to be the
American Idol
of filmmaking. More than 12,000 filmmakers applied for this international competition, and I was lucky enough to place in the top 12 before I was eventually voted off. The show didn’t do well so it’s not on anymore, but it was a fantastic experience. I’m still in touch with the other contestants, and I still try to find time after-hours for my filmmaking hobby.”
…Mike Stringer
, director of corporate and foundation relations, wrote and published a novel?

Mike’s book,
Training Wheels
, was published in 2012:
Training Wheels is a coming of age story set in the wild summer of 1974, Los Angeles, and told by a candid 15-year old named Kevin Copeland. While trying to uncover a mystery about his father, Kevin meets a beautiful and spontaneous girl named Shelly and falls quickly in lust. The problem is, she’s also the daughter of the mistress in his father’s secretive life. Kevin’s journey into first love with Shelly becomes a heartwarming but perilous adventure that forces both families to face the bitter truths and harsh realities of their misguided decisions. The last few weeks of summer become his intense training ground and ultimately lead to his defining moments as a young man who’s growing up fast and trying to make sense of the culturally bizarre decade called “The Seventies.”
…Hallie Nicholson
, manager of development communications, appeared (ever so briefly) on Wipeout?
“I appeared on the ABC show Wipeout in January 2011. The show filmed in October 2010. If you know me and my complete lack of athletic skill and coordination, it won’t surprise you to learn that I didn’t make it past the first round. But I did get some pretty good screen time, so that was exciting since each episode has 24 contestants and only 10-12 actually appear on the episode.”
…Alex Popescu ’10,
manager, Chapman Fund, is a competitive eater?
In celebration of his 27th birthday last December, Alex Popescu completed the Dave and Buster’s 5:15 Challenge. To win, two people must fully consume a large appetizer plate in under five minutes and 15 seconds. The plate includes five of each: quesadillas, mini hotdogs, chicken wings, and shrimp, along with a giant mass of potato chips. With his friend Rob as a partner, the two were able to finish the Challenge with 15 seconds to spare. Alex received gift cards, a t-shirt and the admiration/disgust of his friends in attendance.

Heather Schlossnagle
, producer, Panther Productions, teaches a variety of classes at 24 Hour Fitness?
“I teach an array of classes at 24 Hour Fitness including spinning, Bodycombat (MMA fighting class), Bodypump (strength), Grit (30 minute high intensity interval training class), and CX Worx (30 minute) core class. I’ve been instructing classes for over 10 years and still love it as much as on my first day. The most rewarding aspect is hearing members success stories whether it be reaching a PR in an Ironman Triathlon or losing weight. I have national certifications in group fitness and personal training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I started instructing to share my passion for fitness with others but also to help me come out of my shell. Being painfully shy when younger, nothing terrified me more than public speaking, and although I still get nervous before each class, once I put on the mic and turn on the music, watch out! You can find my list of classes and locations (in Orange and Irvine)
here
. I’m Heather B. on the schedule.”

Ross Loehner
, web content manager, Web and Interactive Marketing, is an art junkie?
“I am an art junkie, plain and simple. I get lost in almost all forms of art, but my own artistic nature tends to lean toward silly and strange characters. Pencil to paper (or stylus to tablet) is my preferred doodling method, but I have been known to grab a carving tool every once and awhile. If you’re interested in following my weird artistic adventure, you can find me on Instagram @agentsketch.”
