Melissa Hoon
,
development writer
, was accepted to Dodge’s MFA documentary filmmaking program and will begin class in fall.

“I’ve always been passionate about truthful storytelling and its potential for positive social impact. I majored in journalism and began reporting on human rights abuses, which inspired me to branch into direct victim services as a peer counselor for survivors of sex trafficking. While working in both media and social services, I gained a deeper understanding of the expansive social impact film can have and its effectiveness in breaking through red tape, even if only planting seeds for change. This realization led me to apply to Dodge, and I couldn’t be more excited — it’s been my dream school for years!”

,
assistant director of the Chapman Fund
, was accepted to the M.A. in leadership development (MLD) program in College of Educational Studies and will begin class in fall.

“My active involvement in community organizations has given me the opportunity to get out into the community, speak on my passions, and be proud of what I stand for. I hope to identify and develop relationships with international and local NGOs or educational platforms to oversee the implementation of human resources policies, procedures and practices. The MLD will help make my dream a reality in leading by example and/or advocating for those that can’t speak for themselves. I can’t believe it, I get to be a REAL Panther! Woohoo!”
