Summer Getaways
June 9, 2015
Vacation season is officially upon us! Here’s what a few of our UA colleagues will be up to this summer. We’ve also included some memories of past summer vacations.

Mike Stringer
,
director of corporate and foundation relations
“The Stringer family plans to snorkel, horseback ride, parasail and lounge around on the beach in the Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, during late June. All four of us (two daughters, 15 and 12) will take part in something called “Snuba,” which is a form of scuba diving however the air tank remains on the boat. It’s supposed to be great for kids and you don’t need a diving license. Snuba-dooby-doo!”

Joanne Jurczyk
,
manager of donor relations

“We (me, Barnum & Rascal) are planning a vacation trek along the Central Coast with stays in Cayucos, Cambria and Carmel. Our Carmel stay will be at the Cypress Inn a “5 Dog-Bone/5 Star” very dog friendly inn co-owned by Doris Day. At check-in “the boys” will receive VIP treatment including blanket, special bowls and doggie treats. I will have fresh fruit and crème sherry waiting for me! Photo is Barnum & Rascal along Highway One.”
Lisa Eap
,
alumni engagement manager
Lisa and her husband (and former UA team member) Matt Miller ’01 traveled to Washington D.C. in the summer of 2013.

Jami McCoy
,
gift recorder
Jami is traveling to Napa this summer for a long weekend of wining and dining.
Check out Jami’s blog about her trip to Napa last summer.
She also has plans to run the
Gladiator Rock’n’ Run race
in Silverado in July. In August, Jami and
Taylor Underwood
,
special events coordinator
, are attending
ScareLA,
a convention dedicated to celebrating Halloween, at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Hallie Nicholson
,
manager of development communications
“I don’t have any big trips planned for this summer, but I’ll be heading out to Lake Havasu for a few long weekends and I’m going to Las Vegas in July with a big group of friends for several people’s birthdays. I need to start stocking up on sunscreen!”
Carl Minor
,
account manager
“I just got back from a fabulous weekend in Seattle. We did the popular tourist attraction, Ride the Ducks, which takes you on an amphibious vehicle tour of downtown Seattle and through Lake Union. We also savored our way through Seattle on the Savor Seattle tour, stuffing our bellies with 18+ tastings, including several wine and cocktail pairings. Coming up … my FIRST time in Hawaii (July), then off to Vegas in October for my usual Keno-winning antics.”
Melissa
Hoon
,
development writer
“I’m pretty excited to hike through Yosemite in June! I think Yosemite is one of the world’s most magical places — I can’t wait to check out Half Dome, the rest of the Valley and all the views of the Sierras that make you feel like you’re in a dream!”
