Chancellor Struppa addresses the Chapman Family at last year’s Opening Convocation

This time-honored event is a highlight of Orientation Week, officially launching the academic year. All members of the Chapman Family are welcome. The event includes faculty marching in full regalia and greetings from President Jim Doti, Chancellor Daniele Stuppa, Dean of Students Jerry Price and the presidents of the Student Government Association and Alumni Association.

Each year one of Chapman’s distinguished faculty members shares their thoughts and reflections on the aims of education during the Opening Convocation ceremony. This tradition began in 1994 with an address by President Doti. This year’s Aims of Education address will be presented by Dr. Jennifer Funk, associate professor of biological sciences and director of the biological sciences program.
