Katie Carder is a senior on the Chapman softball team pursuing a BFA in Studio Art and a minor in Graphic Design. Carder’s passion lies in exploring the dynamics of human connection and the formation of community, specifically within her environment of team sports and an athletic community. In her thesis, she explores the culture of her softball team through the creation of a photo exhibition. This exhibition captures the human spirit in a close-knit community, exploring themes of self-expression, interpersonal relationships, rituals, and group dynamics. Her photographs demonstrate her passion for capturing moments and her connection to athletics, specifically her softball team. Carder’s exhibition was displayed in the Guggenheim Gallery from April 22-26.
