Audrey Jones, majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a minor in Analytics, will be ready to turn the tassel this Spring. Among her various experiences, Audrey identifies her involvement in Greek Life as the most impactful. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Audrey found solace and friendship within Kappa Kappa Gamma. “Kappa gave me a way to find my place at Chapman and make amazing friends despite the challenges brought by COVID,” she shares.
Finding Her Place
She decided to enroll in the Argyros Business School because she sought a smaller school with excellent social opportunities. She was drawn to Chapman’s business school due to its outstanding reputation and the presence of a large Greek Life system. Additionally, she found Chapman’s location unbeatable.
One of Audrey’s fondest memories at Chapman revolves around her participation in Skit, a Greek life dance competition. “Spending a month meeting up with 40 girls in my sorority every night from 10-midnight sounds rough, but it always led me to connect and bond with the girls in my sorority more than anything else we do throughout the year”, said Audrey. Leading her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, to second place, Audrey describes the experience as rewarding. “It was so rewarding to be able to lead our chapter to success while keeping it fun and light-hearted through all of our late-night rehearsals,” she recalls.
Embracing Opportunities
Her favorite class at Chapman was Machine Learning, which she took as an elective for her Analytics minor. She anticipated it would be challenging, and indeed it was, but she persevered and was delighted that she did because it proved to be incredibly interesting. Through the course, she gained valuable insights into AI, a field that holds immense relevance in today’s world.
Reflecting on her journey, Audrey offers valuable advice to incoming freshmen. “I would tell my freshman self to take advantage of everything Chapman has to offer. Go to the career fairs and business events, and get to know your professors. The people in Argyros are very well connected and love to help anyone that needs it”, she recalls. “Showing up to everything helps in building a strong network at Chapman. It becomes super easy to get connected at the school if students put themselves out there, even just a little”.
Following her sophomore year, she worked for six months as a PR and Influencer Marketing intern for Love Sweat Fitness. In this role, she provided a fresh perspective to their social media and marketing strategy and created compelling digital content for campaigns. Transitioning into her senior year, she secured a summer internship at RSM as a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Consultant. In this capacity, she collaborated with RSM mentors, assisting clients’ executive leadership teams in achieving their business objectives through innovative solutions that align people, processes, and technology.
Balancing Academics and Extracurriculars
While deeply involved in Greek life and extracurricular activities like Snow Club and fitness instruction, Audrey maintained a remarkable 3.8 GPA. Her commitment to both academic excellence and campus involvement speaks volumes about her dedication and passion for learning. She worked as a group fitness instructor at Chapman, teaching spin classes
weekly in the Henley Gym. She had always wanted to be a fitness instructor and was grateful to be able to get the chance to lead and inspire students in her classes. She was also a part of Snow Club, a group that takes trips to Mammoth Mountain throughout the ski season, which was a major highlight of her college experience.
She was very involved in her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, holding several leadership positions, the most notable being her Vice President of Standards role. In this role, she helped educate the chapter about its standards and policies and provided a support system to help maintain the well-being of its members. She was also a part of the Order of Omega, an honor society recognizing high-achieving Greek students.
